The Colorado Rockies are entering camp coming off an (87-75) 2017 campaign that ended in the Wild Card round where they were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0. After having a successful 2017 season, and having higher expectations for 2018, there are still many question marks surrounding this Rockies ball club. The Denver Post’s Patrick Saunders, wrote an article outlining 10 Rockies question that need answers this spring.

The question that sticks out the most is what are the Rockies going to do with Ian Desmond? Desmond is coming off a very disappointing 2017 season that the Rockies are desperately hoping he overcomes in 2018. The 32 year-old is set to make $22 million this season and is a key clog in the Rockies potential playoff clock. The simple solution is to have Desmond move to first base, as there is currently a void with Mark Reynolds not returning in 2018. Colorado is yet to sign another first baseman so it is safe to predict they are likely going to go with Desmond for the 2018 season. For a squad that is supposed to compete for a playoff spot in 2018, there does seem to be a lot of questions that need to be answered before the regular season starts.
